Ok lets see if I can do this! I have never been much for blogging, but I am determined to properly document this pregnancy - as well as my goal to stay fit throughout, and get my pre-baby body back after pregnancy! I have been inspired by so many fit moms via blogs and Instagram and hope to inspire others during this journey. Lets do it!

Donovan has been taking weekly/biweekly photos against our fun orange wall. Ill start by backtracking through 13 weeks. I am 15 weeks now so I'll upload 14 and 15 soon.  :)

We had our first sonogram a little after 8 weeks, and that was AMAZING! The little nugget didn't look much like a human, but the confirmation that he/she was really there and that we didn't imagine any of this was pretty amazing. Donovan was close to tears and I was just giddy.

Our 2nd sonogram was at 13 weeks and that was…wow. Baby B had developed obvious human features, and we could even see the two hemispheres of the brain! He/she was flipping and kicking and waving…I was amazing I couldn't feel any of that! Donovan said, "Well its gonna be just like you!" Haha.

Looks like an alien huh?!

We have an appointment to find out the gender while we are in El Paso for Christmas!

As far as fitness is concerned, the first trimester was rough. The temperature dropped as winter started to settle in, the sun went to bed earlier, and I was feeling exhausted all the time (and occasionally nauseous on top of that). We got to the gym an average of 1-2 times a week and I was feel extremely weak. I was eating like crap trying to sooth my stomach and my emotions. However around week 11 the exhaustion just disappeared and I was feeling back to my old self. With the holidays just around the corner, our diet still hasn't been in tip-top shape. We have been snacking a lot on virtually whatever we want, but our meals a continue to be clean and nutritious.

I am now feeling much stronger at the gym. I am still lifting with cardio tied in. My max weights have dropped some, especially in squats, but I am still lifting pretty heavy and hope to maintain that as long as my body tells me I can!

  1. You look absolutely AMAZING lady!! Enjoy the ride :) My only caution (and yes as a Mom I HAVE to say it LOL) is to please be careful with lifting while you're pregnant; I was go go go before I was pregnant and during and ended having a small placental tear during the 1st trimester from trying to do too much. Obviously our sweet pea arrived healthy and perfect, but don't forget that even without working out your body is doing more work than it EVER has or will again - don't forget to pamper yourself <3 Can't wait to see pictures of that peanut!

  2. Thanks for the advice Jes! I am definitely going slower and slowly decreasing my weight. We have also decreased the frequency in which we go to the gym. Good to hear real-world stories. :)

    1. Trust me I don't want to damper your spirit at all and I truly believe that being active is the best thing you can do for a healthy normal pregnancy - I worked (taught a full day of 1st grade) the day my water broke! Looking forward to reliving pregnancy through your blog and can't wait to see who your little love turns out to be :)
